The (most overplayed) trailer didn’t fill with me with much \n> interest and I thought the bullet train aspect would be gimmicky and \n> perhaps even too limiting. However, to my surprise it’s the exact \n> opposite to all that. It’s supremely entertaining and very amusing!\n> \n> I \n> love the whole style of the film, the editing is top notch. the bloody \n> visuals are class and the music is superbly chosen – every track hits. \n> Then you also have an excellent cast. I thought, again based on the \n> trailer(s) that I saw, it would be a run-of-the-mill Brad Pitt feature, \n> but his performance is terrific throughout.\n> \n> Aaron Taylor-Johnson \n> and Brian Tyree Henry are a quality double act, I thought their accents \n> and dynamic would get tiresome but if anything I enjoyed them the more I \n> saw them – funny guys! Joey King was the only character I wasn’t sold \n> on during the film, though by the end I dug her performance too.\n> \n> Andrew \n> Koji and Hiroyuki Sanada are also very good, while Michael Shannon, \n> Benito A. Martínez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny) and Zazie Beetz are welcomed \n> cast members as well. There are also a few other noteworthy people \n> involved, including two that Pitt knows well from a different [2022 flick](https://letterboxd.com/film/the-lost-city-2022/). Seriously, what a cast!\n> \n> If \n> I had to mention one gripe, it would be the run time/pacing – this is \n> me nit-picking, though at like one or two (no more than that) moments I \n> did feel like it wasn’t paced incredibly. Again, no biggie though. All \n> in all, I most definitely had a great time with this and would certainly \n> recommend it.\\*\n> \n> \\*still, if you want an even greater film set entirely on a train then you gotta check out the outstanding – one of my favourites!\n\n**Review By:** r96sk **Rating:** 9 **Date:** 2022-08-09\n\n> “Bullet \n> Train employs David Leitch’s maximalist style in a purposefully silly \n> narrative driven by frenetic action and distinct humor.\n> \n> Although \n> it doesn’t stray from the familiar formulas and doesn’t leave viewers \n> blown away by never-before-seen action sequences, the execution of all \n> the intended cinematic moments is more than satisfying, resulting in a \n> couple of hours full of entertainment.\n> \n> The exceptional cast is \n> worth the ticket, and every second with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian \n> Tyree Henry is genuinely hilarious. Brad Pitt shines as well.\n> \n> Despite \n> visual effects, script, and character development all traveling in \n> economy class, it would be a “crime” not to recommend this trip.”\n> \n> Rating: B\n\n**Review By:** MSB **Rating:** 7 **Date:** 2022-08-04\n\n> Choo Choo!\n> \n> A fun and crazy film full of twists and turns, incredibly surprised how \n> this managed to scrape being a 15 UK rating with that amount of \n> swearing and gore but still a fun, Deadpool-esque, film.\n\n**Review By:** benwilliams1999 **Rating:** 8 **Date:** 2022-08-03\n\n> Style over substance\n> \n> I make a point of not watching trailers prior to watching a new film as \n> experience tells me that rather than get me excited to watch a movie, \n> they essentially give me an overly exposed look at a film with key plot \n> points being shown. With this in mind, it was almost impossible to not \n> see parts of trailers for Bullet Train, whether that was on TV or \n> YouTube advertising etc. The marketing campaign for this film is mental, \n> I have seen it everywhere.\n> \n> The trailer makes the movie look \n> like a massive bloated action piece – Think Nonstop meets Train to \n> Busan. However, having watched a couple of YouTube film reviews, I was \n> pleasantly surprised to see it described as not just a brainless action \n> movie, but more of a dialogue-based film with clever writing and fast \n> paced back and forth. One reviewer compared it to Guy Ritchie’s Snatch \n> and the classic Pulp Fiction – Two of my favourite and most watched \n> movies. That was enough for me, I was going to give it a try and I \n> booked a couple of tickets for opening day, something that I don’t do \n> very often.\n> \n> Let’s start with the Dialogue. If anything, it just \n> tries too hard, far too hard. Most of the jokes didn’t land for me and \n> the delivery of the fast-paced dialogue quite often would not hit the \n> mark. I can’t quite but my finger on why that is. Is it simply poor \n> writing? Or is it down to the delivery? Or is it simply that a number of \n> my favourite movies are heavy, witty dialogue-based movies and my \n> expectations were so high based on several reviews, that I just felt \n> disappointed by this? Either way, it didn’t really work for me.\n> \n> As \n> you can imagine, almost all the action scenes involved in this movie \n> were delivered on a train, meaning that the fight scenes needed to be \n> compact and tight. This was delivered better than I expected to be fair \n> and plenty of the action scenes were enjoyable, if not incredibly \n> farfetched.\n> \n> The characters were relatively varied but were quite \n> generic and cliché. Brad Pitt is essentially the lead actor and probably \n> the best on show. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry (Tangerine \n> and Lemon) were the characters which I was most excited to see, they \n> played the east end cockney gangster/hitmen type characters. \n> Unfortunately, they came across as just trying far too hard and the \n> chemistry between them just wasn’t as good as I imagine the director and \n> producers thought it would be. The Thomas the Tank Engine metaphor also \n> got repetitive after the 25th time it was mentioned. The rest of the \n> cast are hit and miss, nothing majorly impressive and nothing majorly \n> terrible. There are some strange cameos, and when I say cameos, I mean \n> cameos. They literally get seconds of screen time.\n> \n> Overall, \n> Bullet Train was entertaining enough as a popcorn flick and was an \n> inoffensive way of turning my brain off for two hours and relaxing. I do \n> feel that it’s a slightly wasted opportunity though as I can see what \n> the director was trying to do, but it just felt flat and missed the mark \n> on quite a few occasions. Style over substance is the best way I would \n> describe it.\n> \n> 6/10.\n\n**Review By:** MUFCOK **Rating:** 6 **Date:** 2022-08-08\n\n---\n\n#### **Other Information:**\n\nOriginal Title Bullet
