Moreover, recombinant IFN-gamma secreted by L. casei-activated macrophages was found to be able to restore the T cell response to mycobacterial antigens. Addition of exogenous IFN-gamma to the co-culture completely reversed the block of T cell activation induced by macrophages in contact with mycobacteria.
