Power your own custom applications and CRM systems with the industry’s best data.\n\nThis API is a RESTFUL implementation that can be easily accessed by most HTTP clients in the language of your choosing.\n\nTo get started with the PitchBook API, there are a few simple steps.\n\n##### **Step 1: Check out our test \"Sandbox\"**\n\nTo help developers get comfortable with the PitchBook API, a test \"sandbox\" environment has been created to show how API calls are structured and how to integrate them with your system. Please reach out to your account manager to request a sandbox key.\n\n##### **Step 2: Review the API contract**\n\nThe API is a separate offering from the PitchBook platform that requires a standalone contract agreement. Please note that not all endpoints included here are necessarily included in a subscription - contact your PitchBook representative for specifics on what you have licensed. This will also be laid out within your contract.\n\n##### **Step 3: Estimate usage and credits required**\n\nEach request for data to the API will have an associated credit cost. After determining the scope of the data your application will need, both the developer “sandbox” and your Customer Success Manager can help you select a subscription package that fits the best.\n\n##### **Step 4: Purchase credits**\n\nOnce you have estimated your API credit requirements, reach out to your Customer Success Manager to be invoiced for the required dollar amount. After payment has been settled, the API credits will be added to your account for immediate use.\n\n##### **Step 5. Get your data**\n\nPitchBook will provide you with a unique API key that will allow you to make calls to the API. Your developer can use this key to retrieve our data and start powering your application. Your Customer Success Manager can help answer any questions about getting started with the API or the developer test \"sandbox\".\n\n## Authentication\n\nTo authenticate to the PitchBook API, simply include a header named \"Authorization\" with the value of \"PB-Token {API_KEY}\" with each API request.\n\nReplace {API_KEY} with your actual API key value.\n\nIn addition to an API key, please make sure you have purchased API credits. Each call has a defined cost. The HTTP error or success codes that may be returned are listed below.\n\n| Code | Title | Description |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| 200 | OK | Standard response description for successful HTTP request |\n| 400 | Bad Request | The server cannot or will not process the request due to something that is perceived to be a client error (e.g., malformed request syntax, invalid request message framing, or deceptive request routing) |\n| 400 | Bad Request | Results per page must be between 1 and {PER_PAGE_LIMIT} |\n| 401 | Unauthorized | Please check your Authorization header value |\n| 402 | Payment Required | Insufficient credit balance limits.
