\nA Night in the Woods
\nI went to a concert with no particular expectations and ended up loving the experience. The concert was Willie Nelson and Shooter Jennings on this year's \"Easter in Austin\". It took place at the Austin360 Amphitheater in Zilker Park. It was the first time I had seen Country music in person, and my first exposure to Shooter Jennings.
\nThe premise was simple: the artists would do a free concert starting with 6:30 and ending at 10 pm. Tickets could be bought at the door or through Ticketmaster. The main stage was in the middle of the park and the amphitheater stage was closer to the back of the park. There were many different rows to choose from on each stage.
\nEarly on a Sunday morning and with no advance tickets, the line stretched all the way down University to Congress. Parking was a breeze because of the single parking lot. Most parking was free with the exception of several lots where attendants asked for a $10 or $15 fee. A group of us made our way to the front door at 2 am to avoid waiting on line. It's not like we had to be at the park early...because it was free.
\nAfter paying the $30 parking fee, we had access to a single large parking lot, and two entrances to the park. We watched for an hour or so until the bouncer's shift change. As a group, we decided to enter from the opposite end of the park to avoid having to pay to park again. The crowd wasn't quite so big yet, but we saw a lot of people we knew.
\nThe park was somewhat quiet and very well lit. But there were already some people on the patio, so we decided to make our way there. The patio overlooked a lake, and was a great place to relax on a rainy night. The nearest concessions were also at the front of the park where the bathrooms were. This made it easier to get warm beverages or snacks.
